Fashion 101: Tips and Tricks to become a Fashion Guru

Fashion 101: Tips and Tricks to become a Fashion Guru - Negative Apparel

She is not my type. She looks friendly. I can tell she is an introvert.

We make snap judgments  about people from the clothes they wear. ON WHAT BASIS?

For many girls, what they put on is merely a count number of dependency, but when we dress up, it might pay us to be a touch extra careful in the alternatives we make. Your clothes and presentation talk volumes approximately you as a person and may absolutely alter your self belief game in no time of exposure. LADIES, dressing well is a skill. And like any other skill, you can learn it and improve. Don’t believe me? We’ve got you covered, as we’re all about making 2019 your best dressed year to date.

BLACK NEVER GOES OUT OF STYLE

BLACK NEVER GOES OUT OF STYLE

Grace Coddington does it. Mary-Kate and Ashley do it. Johnny Cash swore by it.
So really, is there any reason to NOT wear all black?

We don't think SO. Head-to-toe black is the easiest, chicest, most foolproof way to get dressed... and it's actually cool. When you’ve got nothing to wear, wear black. Go for black shirt, black jeans, and throw on a black leather jacket to create a chic street style look. You really can't run into a serious style faux pas while wearing any of them.

Don’t: Never wear black and brown together, they DO NOT MIX well. Nothing looks dowdier than an all-black outfit that is all COTTON, Fabric matters A LOT.

LACE: AN AGELESS ADVENTURE

LACE: AN AGELESS ADVENTURE

A trend that first surfaced in the Cruise collection, cemented its status for spring: lace is no longer a lunching lady, and now has “down with the kids” aspirations.

LACE is a dirty word in the millennial infested waters of Contemporary fashion. Today, it’s all about easy denim, cotton, and knits, but ladylike  lace highlights your femininity like no other fabric.

TIP: In fashion, combining opposites is one of the favorite styling rituals – hard and soft, masculine and feminine, tight and loose. Pair lace with a leather jacket, the leather balances out the femininity of the lace and gives the outfit a bit of an edge. You can wear this look to a dinner, a party or even to work (maybe wear a cami underneath).

PRINTS AND STRIPES:  From “Rejected” to “Respected”

PRINTS AND STRIPES: From “Rejected” to “Respected”

 .

Revamp your dressing style with the prints. Summer fashion is incomplete without prints in your wardrobe.

Mixing prints fashion trend has recently become extremely popular. It really gives a new vision to dressing-up. If you are eager to explore and mix prints, there are some useful and trendy tips

TIP: Basic and neutral fashion colors. It means that you can replace your solid color shirt or blouse with a piece having soft print on it. There are also few so-called neutrals which can go with almost everything: they are stripes and leopard prints. Try your best to combine neighboring colors, they help to bring the look together.

  •  Same print but in different sizes. This actually means that thin stripes will look gorgeous with thick ones! It is really good if you are able to match at least one of the colors of different prints.

Don't: Wear a multitude of clashing prints and patterns at the same time, they will look like a punch in the eye. Avoid wearing printed jackets on printed shirts, Ladies  don’t go over two prints at a time! That’s justttt  messy, and messy isn’t what we’re aiming for.

CHIC PALAZZO OR WIDE LEG PANTS

CHIC PALAZZOS OR WIDE LEG PANTS

One of our favorite former-trends-made-modern: wide-leg pants! When we first think of wide-leg pants, the ’70s, hippies and beachy style comes to mind, but for the past few seasons, this flattering and fun trend has made a major comeback for every day, an evening out and even work-wear fashion. Even so, it can be intimidating to opt for a pant with extra fabric and size. After all, who wants to make their legs look wider? However, wide-leg pants actually lengthen legs and accentuate the waistline.

TIPS: Turtleneck goes best with the wide-leg trousers. Wide-leg silhouettes make for a strong evening look - effortlessly glamorous and an interesting alternative to a cocktail dress. A quality pair of wide-leg jeans is a go-to style for us. Not only are they comfortable, they’re also flattering and fashion-forward. GIRLIEESS dark wash pair for work or a more elegant affair, while the light-wash pair is on-trend and ideal for casual summer soirees.

DON’T: Avoid carrying long coats on palazzo or flare pants to AVOID a fashion faux pas, THAT’S A BIG NO NO!

STOCKINGS A KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOUR

STOCKINGS A KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOUR

Stockings never truly go out of style, they are a classic staple in any elegant woman's wardrobe; many workplaces require you to cover your legs for proprietary reasons I KNOWW RIGHT, and nude stockings do the trick nicely.

TRICK: Matching tights to your skin tone. If you’re out and about and notice that your tights have a run, break out some clear nail polish or hairspray.

TIP: The shorter your hemline, the more opaque your tights need to be.

DON’T: Printed stockings can never go with patterned skirts.

UNLEASH YOUR INNER SPARKLE WITH SEQUINS

UNLEASH YOUR INNER SPARKLE WITH SEQUINS

We’re all about glitters and shimmers and everything nice, sequins are synonymous with all things glamour. LADIESS, upgrade your look in all-that-glitters with our collection of this season’s ultimate fit; sequin dresses. While the holidays are traditionally the time of year to dress up in glitter, times have changed; bling has become less fussy and more commonplace.

TRICK:  Sequins are not strictly reserved for waif silhouettes. Looking great in sequins is all about balancing the outfit. For example, do you have full hips? If so, choose a sequined top. On the other hand, if you have a prominent bust, a sequined skirt or trouser will create a lovely symmetry.

TIP:  BABIESS! Always wear shimmer jackets on plain and light colored top. Choose from bronzy rose gold hues or ice out your look in platinum. If you want to take it up a notch and diverge from the norm, choose bright pops of color, plunging necklines and tassel hems. No matter your style, we have the perfect fit for you girl. This is one statement look that requires minimal effort, just throw on a sequin dress, and pair with your go-to strappy heels and favorite statement jewelry. This season, steal the show in #NegativeApparel’s must-have sequin dresses.

Don’t:  Never wear glitters to a day-time gathering.  NEVER, I REPEAT NEVER go for sparkly backdrop for your sequin shorts or dress.

LINGERIE: IT’S MOOD OF YOUR BODY

LINGERIE: IT’S MOOD OF YOUR BODY

Lingerie has a reputation of luxury, GIRLLLS NOT  to worry, we’ve got it covered! Our prices are surprisingly affordable, especially if you take advantage of our regular sales. You’re welcome ;)  SO, If you’re looking for a way to splurge on yourself but cannot afford a vacation or a day at the spa, lingerie could be the solution.

Don’t: You should never force yourself into liking a style that just is not you. If you don’t feel comfortable in a certain type of lingerie, it just won’t suit you. IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE. Remember, YOU and YOU alone get to dictate your sense of style. No one else has the right to tell you what you ought to be wearing. DO get fitted on a regular basis, there’s nothing worse than investing in ill-fitting lingerie.

CROP TOPS ARE FOR EVERYBODY, BECAUSE STYLE RULES ARE SO YESTERDAY!

CROP TOPS

ALL YOU LADIES OUT THERE, what do you have to say about the crop top trend being back on the market? One thing we know for sure is that all of us want to flaunt our midriffs and belly buttons with these half-shirts. Having said that, not everyone is confident about carrying off these sassy and edgy tops and, when we do, we’re absolutely clueless about what to pair these with, and END UP  making a fashion faux-pas.

TIP: The haters are gonnnna hate, but that doesn't mean your personal style should suffer. LADIESS if you are bold enough to rock this trend, then encourage everyone else to do so as well! #SisterHood

TRICKS: Pair crop tops with high-waisted Shorts/Pants and if you are not very confident while carrying a crop top, throw on a cape or kimono – layering is in trend, anyway.

Don't: Don’t pair them with low strung jeans; the whole idea reads out sloppy.

JUMPSUITS: OUR EASYGOING KINDRED SPIRITS

JUMPSUITS

Jumpsuits are, without a doubt, a statement style. The head-to-toe, all-in-one garment creates a striking look that moves beyond a simple dress or pants and top combo, and into more fashionable territories. Best of all, they always look put-together. So why then, do so many women still avoid this trend-worthy style? Well, it isn’t always the easiest piece of clothing to pull off.

TRICK: When your social life tends to spill into the workweek, a jumpsuit becomes an outfit savior. Especially when your workplace wardrobe is a balancing act of needing to maneuver around dress codes, varying temperatures, and other fashion-specific concerns which come with the seasonal territory.

That's where the jumpsuit, once again, swoops in for the win!!!

TIP: If you are tall, wide-leg jumpsuits that finish just above the ground will be highly complementary. If you are vertically challenged, you may want to opt for a slim, cropped style instead to avoid looking swamped in the fabric.

DON’T: Wrong fit or by adding the wrong accessories, your jumpsuit can go from a fashion hero to a fashion zero.

P.S. Wear your clothes because they make you feel and look good, not because they are trendy.
